Academy striker Findlay Curtis was delighted to make his Euro debut for Rangers in last night’s Europa League tie against Manchester United.

The 18-year-old, who enjoyed an impressive first-team bow in the 5-0 Scottish Cup win against Fraserburgh last weekend, was introduced on the hour at Old Trafford and was immensely  proud to feature in such a high-profile fixture.

Cyriel Dessers had struck a terrific late equaliser for Philippe Clement’s men after an unfortunate Jack Butland own goal before United captain Bruno Fernandes broke Light Blue hearts with an injury-time winner.

Speaking to RangersTV after the match, Findlay said: “It was a dream come true obviously coming to play at Old Trafford.

“I was absolutely buzzing to make my European debut but it was a disappointing result.

“I was a surprise to play but I was told to do the same things I had done (against Fraserburgh) on Sunday and I did that.

“It’s the stuff of dreams to play here.

“It was an end-to-end game and we were disappointed to lose it at the end. Now we look to the Dundee Utd game.

“I didn’t think I would be where I am now to be fair, it’s down to hard work and I will keep on doing that.

“I’ll keep working hard and hopefully I can get a start soon.”

Young midfielder Bailey Rice was a half-time substitute at Old Trafford with fellow Academy graduate Ross McCausland also introduced at the break and defender Leon King also made a late appearance against Rubin Amorim’s side.

Liam Kelly, Mason Munn, Zak Lovelace, Zander Hutton and Paul Nsio were on the bench.
