A book celebrating the Light Blues’ ground-breaking trip to Russia in the 60s is on sale now and all profits go to The Rangers Youth Development Company to help the Rangers Academy.

Rangers in Russia: The Story of the 1962 Tour – written by Jeff Holmes – chronicles the quite incredible story of that unbeaten tour behind the Iron Curtain and features stunning photography taken by Ibrox legend Harold Davis.

Scot Symon’s talented squad would play three games in June of 1962 – against Locomotiv Moscow, Dynamo Tbilisi and Dynamo Kiev – and Rangers stunned their hosts by thrashing Locomotiv 3-1 in the first fixture on Russian soil.

A squad of true Rangers legends – including a youthful John Greig, wing wizard Willie Henderson, Billy Ritchie, Jimmy Millar, Eric Caldow, Davie Wilson, Harold Davis, Ralph Brand and Bobby Shearer – continued their impressive form with a 1-0 victory over Dynamo Tbilisi thanks to Henderson’s strike.

The tour concluded with a 1-1 draw against the mighty Dynamo Kiev, Ralph Brand on target, and thousands of Rangers fans flocked to Renfrew Airport upon their return to Scotland.

Rangers would also get to see the famous Moscow State Circus and meet Russian Prime Minister Nikita Kruschev during the historic visit and the new Rangers in Russia book is an ideal Christmas gift for supporters.
